Meet Jon Carroll

My name is Jon Carroll. I am the proud son of Sharon Carroll, a woman who marched in Memphis demonstrations in the 1960’s, and who dedicated her life to helping disadvantaged seniors throughout West Tennessee. Memphis is home. I’ve lived in the Normal Station neighborhood since 1995 and I’m a graduate of the University of Memphis. I met my wife Pam in the University District- where we raised our son, a proud graduate of MSCS Middle College High School located in the heart of Memphis intersecting Orange Mound, Midtown, and East Memphis. I am proud to have served as the president of the PTSA there for three years. Following my tenure, I was selected to serve on the Tennessee PTA as the statewide Legislative Affairs and Resolutions Chair.

I have served on the Shelby County Democratic Party Executive Committee off and on since 2013 helping to turn out volunteers, register voters, and organize. In addition, I have served on the Tennessee Democratic Party Executive Committee representing Senate District 33 in Shelby County since 2022; working on campaigns, setting strategy, and informing and coordinating with community constituents. In addition, I have proudly served as the President of Normal Station Neighborhood Association - an area that includes to University of Memphis - for the last 4 years working with the city and University to address residents' concerns and resolve issues. Also, I am a proud graduate of the New Memphis Fellows program where I have made contacts and public and private partnerships with organizations across our great city.

These roles have helped to prepare me to continue to serve the people of Memphis, and more importantly, our parents and children here in District 9. From Orange Mound to Sea Isle, Green Tree to Cherokee, District 9’s students are diverse, smart, and ready to lead and become the future leaders of a Memphis that is the economic backbone to the region and a trendsetter in innovation. Memphis wants change and has a desire for a school board that will work together to ensure that all of the students receive a high quality education no matter where you live. I ask for your support to help me in this quest and drive. Remember, none of us is as smart as all of us.
